Fall Prayer Update

Here are some ways that you can pray and praise God with us this season!

1. We are so grateful for the launch of this new website!! It was made possible only by God’s grace through the generosity of our supporters. Pray that this website may bring hope to the lives that it may touch.

2. There have been many new changes to the Life Learning Program at the Cook County Jail. Pray that the lives we touch will continue to grow in Christ.

Not Discouraged

What keeps you guys from been discouraged? That’s a common question that people often ask our staff. Just the other day while I was at the jail, visiting inmates, passing out bibles and Daily Bread pamphlets, a sergeant stopped me. She commented on my appearance and shared how much she liked my suit and how good it was for the young men to see another man wearing a shirt and tie. She went on talk about how much she enjoyed my bible classes and shared a few request on study subjects for me to teach in the future.

SUMMER PRAYER UPDATE

Thanks for your prayers for CPO this summer! We have some exciting changes and events coming up soon, including the launch of our new website!

The Welding School - Meet Andre

One of the oldest buildings at Cook County Jail is on the Corner of 31st and California. Twice a year I visit this facility. The sheriff’s office has a program called Day Reporting. Day Reporting is a alternative detaining program. Individuals who are awaiting trail report to this building and program everyday and remain in the facility during the day, and return home on electronic monitoring at night. The sheriffs office has bought into the concept that it would a good idea to use this time to provide training and rehabilitative services to these men during this time.

Robert Moore

My Name is Robert Moore.

December 19, 2005.
I was 23 years old when the cast iron door shut behind me.

I’d ben locked up before, but this was different. This time I knew I was done with the streets.

Months earlier I had shot and killed a man who came into my house unannounced. It was at that point, while I was sitting in jail, that I remember the Lord began to deal with me. If you are not affiliated with a gang you are considered nothing.

Greg

First giving honor to God, Who is the Head of my life through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior and my beautiful wife Wanda who is truly a gift from God.

All the time and words in the world wouldn't suffice to convey how good God has been in my life. I pray that this short testimony of how God has moved in my life over the last few years will help, aid, and or encourage the believer.

De'Andreas

My name is De’Andreas. I was born and raised in Evanston, IL.

As a young child, I had both parents, but they were working parents so I was always with my sister. As a child I got everything I wanted and I was good at every sport I played. I don’t know what happened but around seventh grade I was infatuated with things. My parents couldn’t buy me a lot so that’s when the streets got hold of me. I started doing all types of things for money including selling drugs, robberies, and stealing. By always staying in the streets my grades started

Peace and Blessings

Friends of CPO,

As the boot camp continues to go through transitions, our bible study leaders and ministry leaders there have had to adjust and a constantly change what they do on a day to day basis. In the last few weeks we have only had nine inmates that we have been able to talk to about our Lord.
